From Albania to Alberta
The name Apollonia honors the ancient Illyrian city in their homeland β a place where beekeeping and mead-making have been practiced for millennia. When founders Dritan and Albana Qose left Albania for Calgary, they brought that heritage with them.
It all started during a trip to a local Alberta beekeeping farm and meadery, where they discovered that this province produces some of the world's finest honey. What began as a beekeeping hobby quickly grew into something more serious β a way to bridge old-world tradition with the raw ingredients of their new home.
The first homemade bottles of Honey Wine were soon produced, and friends and family urged them to enter local competitions β where they won. Today, Apollonia crafts a collection of honey wines and fruit liqueurs that have earned recognition at the Alberta Beverage Awards.
